Everything you need to know about bringing a Paradise Gem cat home.
How much does a kitten cost?
Kittens are $2,500–$3,500. Where a kitten falls in that range depends on colour line and show quality, and on whether they come home already spayed or neutered.
How it works
Start with an application. It tells us about you, your home, and the kind of cat you’re hoping for.
Most of our kittens go to families on the Priority Waitlist. A $250 non-refundable deposit holds your place, and it goes toward the cost of your kitten. Priority families are contacted personally when a litter is ready to choose from.
When you choose your kitten, a $1,000 deposit reserves them. If you’ve already paid the $250 priority deposit, the remaining balance to reserve is $750. The rest can be paid in instalments, with the balance due once your kitten’s final vet health check clears — usually the week they come home. If you’d prefer to pay in cash at pickup, that’s welcome too.
Deposits are non-refundable. If your plans change, talk to us — we can usually move your deposit to a future kitten.
Showing your cat
There are three CFA shows a year in Honolulu — January, April and October. You can join us with your cat, or come watch the show with your family.
A cat show is a great place to help your cat develop confidence in different environments and around other people. You’ll get to see many other breeds and meet more of our Paradise Gem Kahu. It’s a fun experience to show your kitty off to others and be surrounded by other beautiful cats.
You don’t need any experience — we’ll walk you through it and be there with you to enjoy the day. Just let us know you’re interested in a show kitty!
When kittens go home
Kittens go to their new homes between 12 and 16 weeks.
By then they’re using the litter box, eating solid food, and confident enough to handle a new house. They stay with their mother as long as possible so they get the full benefit of her maternal antibodies.
Health
Our breeding cats are DNA tested free of hereditary diseases.
We take every precaution raising our kittens — the best food we can source, probiotics, natural supplementation.
Before your kitten comes home, they will have had:
- A health check clearing them healthy by a licensed veterinarian
- At least 2 rounds of FVRCP vaccine
- Deworming
- Microchipping
- Flea and tick treatment
- Screening for intestinal parasites by fecal examination
The results of that health exam come home with your kitten.
If anything seems off, tell us
If your kitten shows any sign of ill health within 72 hours of pickup, let us know right away.
Our 30-day guarantee
If a licensed veterinarian diagnoses your kitten with a genetic or congenital illness likely to affect their life expectancy within 30 days of pickup, we will either take the kitten back and reimburse the purchase price in full, minus transaction fees, or supply a replacement kitten free of charge, subject to availability. A claim needs written veterinary documentation of the diagnosis.
The guarantee doesn’t cover veterinary or treatment costs, accidents, vaccination or medicine side effects, or health problems that appear later in life.
An honest word
A health clearance doesn’t mean your kitten will never get sick. Up to 90% of cats carry upper respiratory viruses like herpes and calicivirus, and travel, new food, new smells and new animals are a lot for a small cat. A cold or an upset stomach in the first weeks isn’t unusual. Your vet can help, and so can we.
And always — we take our cats back
If you ever can’t keep your cat, at any point in their life, they come back to us. No questions asked.
Spay & neuter
Our kittens go home as beloved pets, not for breeding. Some are already spayed or neutered before they leave us. For the others, we use SpaySecure — a program that handles the spay/neuter contract and follows up with friendly reminders.
Getting your kitten to you
We’re on the Big Island, near Hilo airport. Getting your kitten home is the new owner’s cost.
You’re very welcome to fly in and meet us — come for a holiday and go home with a kitten. Otherwise, kittens travel with Aloha Air Cargo out of Hilo. If two kittens from the same litter are heading to the same island, they can travel together and the families can share the cost. We’ll help you coordinate the flights either way.

What are the health clearances?
Parents and kittens are fed primarily an organic raw food diet with other natural supplementation. Each kitten is cleared healthy by a licensed veterinarian before going home, with at least 2 rounds of FVRCP vaccine, dewormed, microchipped, and flea and tick treated. Kittens are screened for intestinal parasites by fecal examination at that health check, and the results are provided at delivery. Our breeding cats have DNA health genetics testing.
At what age are kittens available?
Kittens are ready to join you in your home between 12–16 weeks of age. The exact timing depends on their development, vaccine schedules and travel. This gives them the proper amount of time to be nourished and trained by mom. Kittens will have their first required vaccines and be litter trained.

Where are you located?
We are located on the beautiful and lush Big Island of Hawaiʻi. We live in the sunbelt just a few blocks from the ocean on the East side of the island. To fly in and pick up kittens, the closest airport is Hilo. Kona airport is 2 1/2 hours away. Come for a vacation and take home a sweet cuddly kitten!

What options do I have to get the kitten to me?
We are located on the Island of Hawaiʻi near the Hilo airport. New owners are responsible for the costs of getting their kitten home. We can send kittens via Aloha Air Cargo and you can possibly have your kitten accompanied by a sibling going to the same island and split the cost with the other family. We will help coordinate and arrange the flights. Depending on location, we can discuss transportation options.
